Central team in Arunachal to assess damage from calamities

Itanagar, Nov 26 (UNI) An inter-ministerial central relief team led by Joint Secretary (NE) Navin Verma has appreciated Arunachal Pradesh government for successfully implementing various centrally sponsored projects in the state.

Official sources said here today that the team was on a three-day visit to assess the damages caused by natural calamities.

The team, accompanied by Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu and Cooperation and Public Health Engineering Department Minister Lombo Tayeng, made an aerial survey of Tawang district and inspected the places affected by flood and landslides in the districts, sources said.

While pointing out the various parameters required for proper presentation of the report claiming for relief, Mr Verma suggested that the state government should properly utilise the central relief fund.

Mr Khandu apprising the visiting team of problems arising due to natural calamities, urged for recommending the problems to the Centre for immediate restoration of all liabilities in relief works.

He also had called for a meeting to streamline the reports of every district and submit to the Centre at the earliest for necessary funding under relief and rehabilitation schemes, sources informed.
