Sonia Gandhi to visit Andamans soon

Port Blair, Nov 25: UPA Chairperson and All India Congress Committee President Sonia Gandhi will soon visit Andaman and Nicobar Islands, officials said here today.

During a recent meeting with lone MP from the island Manoranjan Bhakta, Ms Gandhi had reportedly assured that she will be visiting the far flung islands. Talking to the sources over phone from New Delhi, Mr Bhakta told that the UPA chairperson was the first one to reach the islands soon after the devastating tsunami in 2004.

''The island has recouped from the destruction under her guidance only,'' the MP said.

During the said meeting Mr Bhakta and Ms Gandhi discussed on various issues related to the development of the archipelago.
