Soldier killed in Kashmir militant ambush

Srinagar, Nov 25 (UNI) A soldier was killed in a militant ambush on a Rashtriya Rifles (RR) patrol party in the frontier Kashmir district of Kupwara last evening, police said today.

They said militants ambushed the patrolling party of 28 RR at Shah Koot village in Sogam area of Kupwara district last evening, resulting in injuries to rifle man Vijay Kumar.

The injured soldier was taken to the Army's 92 base hospital here where he succumbed to wounds, police added.

However, the militants managed to escape under the cover of darkness in dense forests.
