Land Reforms Act will be enforced: Minister
Kochi, Nov 25 (UNI) Kerala Law Minister M Vijayakumar today said the Land Reforms Act was not anachronic and would be enforced after considering the prevailing situation in the state.
Inaugurating a function of Kerala Law Reforms Commission held under the Chairmanship of retired Supreme Court Judge V R Krishna Iyer here, he said, ''the Land Reforms Act is more relevant and will be enforced in the state after due consideration.'' Krishna Iyer said the Commission would recommend the government to enact a law to curb the rise in land prices, instigated by the 'land mafia'.
The commission would recommend the government to enact new laws and amend the existing ones to protect the rights of the poor and the comman man, he said adding that steps should be taken to effectively enforce the Land Reforms Act in the cities.
