Islamic scholar and freedom fighter S Haque passes away

Munger, Nov 25 (UNI) Bihar's prominent Islamic scholar and freedom fighter, who participated in the Quit India Movement, Hazrat Maulana Sayyid Shamsul Haque, passed away here at Jamia Rahmaniya Khanqah today.

He was 95. Popularly known as Sheikhul-Hadis, Mr Haque was a teacher of theology at Jamia Rahmania which is a famous Islamic seminary in the country with 3,000 students from different countries. He had delivered religious sermons for 50 years. His Namaz-e-Janazah (final respects) would be offered at Chakulia his native village in Vaishali district tomorrow.

Khanqah Rahmania chief Wali Rahmani had expressed deep shock at the scholar's demise.
