Draft of new textile policy to be ready by December-end
Nagpur, Nov 25 (UNI) The draft of a new comprehensive textile policy would be placed before the state cabinet for approval by the end of December, Maharashtra Minister for Textiles Satish Chaturvedi said here today.
Speaking at a conference of textile cooperatives, Mr Chaturvedi said the new policy would include measures to attract investors to the sector. Besides, according priority to value-addition projects would also be considered, he said.
Employment would be generated on a large scale if more spinning mills were opened, Mr Chaturvedi said. Efforts would, therefore, be made in this direction, he said.
It was possible to include women's self-help groups (SHG's) in the sector by establishing small units, Chaturvedi added.
