APSRTC to construct most modern bus terminal at Tirupati

Tirupati, Nov 25 (UNI) In view of increasing number of pilgrims to the temple of Lord Venkateswara, Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) will construct a most modern bus terminal in the temple town soon, Corporation Vice Chairman and Managing Director V Dinesh Reddy today said.

Talking to newspersons here after inaugurating three bus terminals, he said TTD has agreed to provide site for the modern bus station at Tirumala and a final decision was likely to be taken in the next TTD Board meeting.

He said in view of the incresing rush, the corporation would operate 57 buses more on five routes in Karnataka and 19 routes in Tamil Nadu, and 66 buses in 33 routes in Andhra Pradesh in the year 2008-09.

Mr Reddy said corporation's Tirupati region had transported nearly 15 lakh pilgrims during the two ''Brahmotsavams'' held recently.

The corporaion had also decided to provide medical facilities to the 11,000 contract labourers, he said.

Tirupati region had registered all time record collection of about Rs 1.33 crore in a single day on November 12, 2007, he said.
