New Delhi, Nov 25 (UNI) Six men were arrested for forcibly entering the residence of Congress MP Arvind Sharma and assaulting his personal assistant in the New Delhi area yesterday, police sources said today.
The six accused tried to forcibly enter the 20, Canning Lane residence of Dr Sharma, Lok Sabha MP from Karnal, at 0900 hrs yesterday. When they were stopped by the guards and Mahinder Kumar, a long-time aide to Dr Sharma, he was thrashed by them and suffered some injuries, the sources added.
But soon they all were overpowered and taken into custody.
A case against them under sections 323, 452, 506, 120 B and 34 of the IPC was registered at Tilak Marg Police Station.
A property dispute is said to be the reason behind the incident.
They six were produced before Duty Magistrate Sanjay Bansal in the Patiala House Courts today, who sent them in 14-day judicial custody.
Their bail applications are likely to come up for hearing tomorrow.
