PM elated over Kamlesh Sharma's appointment as Secy Gen
Kampala, Nov 24 (UNI) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today expressed happiness over the appointment of Kamlesh Sharma as the next Secretary General of the Commonwealth and hoped that he will ''acquit himself well as the first servant of the entire Commonwealth.'' ''I am delighted that the Commonwealth Heads of Government have selected Kamlesh Sharma as the next Secretary General,'' Dr Singh stated.
In an statement soon after Mr Sharma was appointed Secretary General by 53 heads of State and Government at a special session here today, Dr Singh said ''his long record of public service in the international community has been capped by recognition of his capability and inclusive vision of the Commonwealth.'' ''I am confident that he will acquit himself well in his higher responsiblities as the first servant of the entire Commonwealth,'' the Prime Minister said in a statement.
