Restoring the sacred tree at Gaya

The
local
administration
in
India's
northern
Gaya
is
taking
steps
to
restore
the
glory
of
the
sacred
'Bodhi
tree'
or
wisdom
tree,
infested
with
Milli
bug,
a
condition
in
which
trees
shed
their
leaves
abnormally.
The fig tree is considered sacred by the Buddhists as Gautam Buddha is believed to have attained enlightenment under the bodhi tree located in Bodh Gaya, 96 kilometers from Patna, the capital of Bihar.
