VHP, BJP call bandh to protest blasts

Lucknow, Nov 23 (UNI) The Vishwa Hindu Parishad and the Bharatiya Janata Party today gave separate calls for a dawn-to-dusk Uttar Pradesh bandh tomorrow to protest the serial blasts in the state which left 13 dead and over 60 injured.

BJP spokesperson Narendra Singh Rana said here the bandh will begin early tomorrow and continue till sunset. ''Emergency services have been exempted from the bandh call,'' he added.

The VHP too issued a separate bandh call to protest Lucknow, Varanasi and Faizabad blasts.

Meanwhile, examinations at the Lucknow University tomorrow have been postponed following the bandh call.

BJP president Rajnath Singh is expected to visit Faizabad, Lucknow and Varanasi tomorrow. The Samajwadi Party has also decided to send fact-finding teams to Faizabad and Varanasi.
