Satinder to umpire in Champions Trophy

Chandigarh, Nov 23 (UNI) City based International Grade I umpire Satinder Sharma, has been appointed umpire by the International Hockey Federation (FIH) for the Champions Trophy to be held at Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) from November 29 to December 9.

According to Chandigarh Hockey Association secretary Yash Pal Vohra, it will be his fourth assignment in the Champions Trophy.

Satinder, who works as Assistant Manager, State Bank of India, Panjab University Campus branch, has already officiated in the Champions Trophy in Colonge (Germany) 2002, Chennai 2005 and Teressa (Spain) 2006.

Satinder enjoys the distinction of having officiated in all the leading hockey tournaments held under the aegis of the FIH including Junior and Senior World Cups, Olympic Qualifiers and Athens Olympics. Forty-two year-old Satinder has also been appointed for the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
