PWD official arrested for taking bribe
Supoul, Nov 23 (UNI) Bihar State Vigilance Commission sleuths today arrested a junior engineer of the PWD while he was accepting bribe from a highway contractor.
District Deputy Superintendet of Police Ram Naresh said a written complaint had been lodged at the Commission by Contractor Manoj Kumar that engineer Anand Kumar had been demanding Rs 50,000 for granting him a contract for widening of National Highway 57. An agreement had been reached for payment of Rs 10,000 as the first instalment today.
Accordingly, a trap was laid by the sleuths who arrested the junior engineer as soon as he accepted the previously marked money at the former's residence.
Later Rs 60,000 more in cash was recovered from the house following further search, the DSP informed.
