Progressive writers to hold parallel Kannada meet
Udupi, Nov 23 (UNI) Even as preparations are in full swing to hold the 74th All India Kannada Conference here from December 12, some progressive organisations have started opposing the 'communalisation' of the conference by holding a parallel meet.
Kannada writer and 'Hosathu' Chief Editor G Ramakrishna had been selected to preside over the parallel conference to be held on December nine, Mr G Rajashekar, one of the organisers, told reporters here today.
More than 1,500 delegates including progressive writers and thinkers will take part in the conference which will feature sessions on 'Communalism' and 'Globalisation and Inequality.' Writers like Shivasundar, Dr Rahmath Tarikere, K L Ashok, Prof Narendra Nayak and Pattabhirama Somayaji will present papers on communalisation, he said.
The valedictory address would be delivered by Senior Writer Sara Aboobakkar, he added.
