Pakistan's SC directs EC to notify Musharraf's success in elec

Islamabad, Nov 23 (UNI) The Pakistan Supreme Court today directed the Election Commission (EC) to notifify General Pervez Musharraf's success in the October 6 presidential election.

The Pakistani apex court's order came a day after it dismissed the last of the six petitions challenging the military ruler's re-election in uniform.

A full-court, headed by Chief Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar, yesterday, had dismissed the petition of Dr Zahoor Mehdi days after dismissal of another five legal challenges filed by two presidential candidates Wajihuddin Ahmad and Makhdoom Amin Fahim and others.

The court directed General Musharraf to doff uniform by December 1.

General Musharraf has already named ViceArmy Chief Ashfaq Parvez Kiyani as his successor.

General Musharraf is expected to take oath for the second term in the next few days.
