Municipal Council CO held in bribary case

Bangalore, Nov 23 (UNI) Belgaum district Town Municipal Council Chief Officer S M Hiremath was arrested by Lok Ayukta police after he was caught red-handed while accepting bribe of Rs 1,00,000 for extending official favour.

According to a release here today, Hiremath demanded and accepted the bribe from one Prakash D Algali for issuing cheque for Rs 2,12,000 for having done garden work.

The trap was laid after receiving a complaint from Mr Algali.

The arrested was produced before the court and remanded him in judicial custody till December 5.
