HC notice to TN Govt, CBI

Chennai, Nov 23 (UNI) The Madras High Court today issued notice to the Tamil Nadu Government and the CBI on a PIL filed by a construction company, alleging malpractices in the PWD contracts.

The PIL filed by T K Construction alleged that the PWD department had issued tender notifications for the year 2007 and awarded contracts to selected companies according to its whims and fancies.

The petitioner also demanded a CBI probe into it.

As representations to the government went in vain, the PIL seeking action against the PWD department was preferred, the company submitted.

Admitting the PIL, Mr Justice A Jothimani issued notice to the State government and the CBI, returnable by two weeks.
