Four persons arrested for possessing arms in Tripura

Agartala, Nov 23 (UNI) Police arrested four persons and seized weapons from their possession last night in North Tripura in three separate operations.

Police said here today that Ajit Dey (46) of bordering Chandipur village was arrested and a US-made point-22 revolver was seized from him while Rafique Ali (50) was arrested for illegally possessing an SBBML gun from Gour Nagar area.

Meanwhile, police and TSR personnel arrested one BNCT collaborator in a raid at Naising Para, close to the Mizoram border.

Besides, Briguram Reang (25) was arrested from the same location and a country-made gun, torch light, approximately 50 grams gunpowder and 30 iron pieces were seized from his possession.

Police destroyed about 20,000 poppy plants at Valuarchar under Kalamchoura police station of west Tripura and another 4,000 poppy plants at Gagan Sardar para, about 45 km south of Agartala.
