Four passengers burnt alive, 25 sustain burn injuries

Hubli, Nov 23 (UNI) Four passengers were charred to death and over 25 people sustained injury when a Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus collided head on with a truck near Madli cross on Pune-Bangalore national highway in Dharwad district in the early hours of today.

According to police, following the impact of the collision both vehicles caught fire roasting alive four people including a woman.

The bus was on its way to Belgaum from Hassan when the mishap occurred. The truck belonged to Ghatage-Patil trainsport company of Kolhapur in Maharastra.

The victims included the driver of the truck.

The injured were being treated at Karnataka Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) here.

Fire fighters and police who reached the spot within half an hour of the mishap put off the fire and shifted the injured to the hospital.
