Filing of nominations begins in HP

Shimla, Nov 23 (UNI) The Election Commission (EC) today issued the notification for the second phase of polling for the remaining 65 assembly constituencies, which go to polls on December 19.

November 30 would be the last date for filing of nomination, which would be scrutinised the next day (December one), state Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Manisha Nanda said.

She said while the last date for withdrawal of the candidature would be December three, polling for the remaining 65 constituencies would be held on December 19.

The counting of votes for both the phases would be held on December 28 and the whole election process would be completed by December 31, she added.

Yesterday, the BJP had released the first list of its candidates for 57 assembly constituencies, while the Congress was expected to release its list of candidates later in the day.
