Shimla, Nov 23 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Irrigation and Public Health Minister Kaul Singh Thakur today said massive developmental works undertaken by the state Congress Government during the last four and a half years will help it in overcoming incumbency in the state.

Besides, the party would also take the issue of corruption to the masses and highlight the failures of the previous Dhumal Government, which was neck deep in corruption, he told reporters here.

Mr Thakur said under the Congress government the state has taken giant strides in education, health, road network, controlling the prices of essential commodities and extending the coverage of drinking water supply schemes.

Replying to a question about the government's failure to create enough job opportunities in the state, he said employment avenues were created in both the private and government sector.

However, the BJP erected roadblocks in its way of providing employment to the educated unemployed, by taking the recruitment process to the courts, he said, adding that the issue could only move ahead after the courts decide the pending issues.

Mr Thakur said the government had come out with an industrial policy and it had been ensured that 70 per cent of employment created was reserved for Himachali youth.

Besides the government had reserved all mini hydel projects for state subjects, he added.

Referring to the loss to the agricultural produce of the farmers by wild animals in various parts of the state, he said the party has decided to include the issue in their manifesto and would frame a policy to tackle the issue.

He claimed that the Congress would return to power with three fourth majority in the elections.
