Barnala says Guru Nanak's messages are universal

Chennai, Nov 23 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Governor S S Barnala today appealed to the people to dedicate themselves towards promotion of unity, peace and harmony.

In his message on the eve of 539th Birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev, he said the Sikh Guru's message was of Universal ''application and relevance.'' ''He was a strong advocate of righteous path, right conduct, and right behaviour and preached that truth was higher than everything and higher still was truthful living,'' he said.

''Gurunanak upheld the glory of God and propagated the message of peace, love and universal brotherhood. Let us on this solemn occasion live up to his teachings and dedicate ourselves towards promotion of unity, peace and harmony'', the Governor said, according to a Raj Bhavan communique.
