3 cops suspended over custodial death

Baghpat, Nov 23 (UNI) Three policemen, including a station in charge, were suspended over death of a fratricide accused in police custody.

Sahiram, a resident of Kheda Islampur village was arrested on Wednesday night after he allegedy murdered his brother Ramdeen over an old land dispute.

Sahiram was lodged in Baghpat Kotwali police station, where he was found dead under mysterious circumstances yesterday night, police said today.

While police claimed the accused hanged himself to death; Sahiram's family held the police responsible for his death.

Meanwhile, the station in- charge Vijay Prakash Singh, sub-inspectors Ram Kishen Rathi and Mateen Ahmad have been suspended with immediate effect.
