Two held for selling land with forged documents

Puducherry, Nov 22 (UNI) Puducherry CID police today arrested two persons on charge of selling land by preparing forged documents.

Police said one Kripa Sankar, had purchased 2,400 sqfm of land at Lawspet in 1996 and when he made arrangements to construct house in the site, four persons prevented him stating that the land belongs to another person. On inquiry, it came to know that the land was sold to Kavitha of Mudaliarpet and she in turn sold it to Hemachandran of Chennai. Following this, Mr Sankar lodged a complaint with the District Collector, who ordered the revenue authorities to inquiry.

When revenue authorities conducted an inquiry, it came to know that the duo Jawhar and Ramesh Babu had forged the documents and sold it to different persons. Besides this, they also did the same with several other properties. Meanwhile, the duo approached Mr Sankar and promised him Rs 15 lakh to withdraw the case, failing which he would be killed. With this development, Mr Sankar lodged a complaint with the CID police who arrested the both.

They were produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate Kaliyamurthy, who remanded them to 15 days judicial custody.
