Telecom subscriber base crosses 250 mln in Oct

New Delhi, Nov 22: The telecom subscriber number crossed 250 million in October 2007 with the addition of 7.89 million connections in the month as compared to 7.64 million in September 2007.

The gross number of telephone connections reached 256.55 million at the end of October 2007, a target set for December 2007.

Last month, the subscriber base stood at248.66 million, said a statement.

The overall tele-density reached 22.52 per cent at the end of October 2007 as against 21.85 per cent last month.

In the wireless segment, there an addition of 8.05 million subscribers in the month of October 2007 as against 7.80 million subscribers addition last month.

The total wireless subscribers (GSM, CDMA and WLL) base reached 217.14 million at the end of October 2007.

In the wireline segment, subscriber base decreased to 39.41 million in the month of October 2007 as against 39.58 million subscribers last month.
