Spl schemes to impart computer education to SCs

Chandigarh, Nov 22 (UNI) The Haryana government has started three new schemes in the government colleges of the state for encouraging the students belonging to Scheduled Castes to acqure computer education under the Special Component Plan during the current financial year.

These three new schemes include setting up computer labs in the government colleges, imparting computer education to the students and providing them computers, a spokesman of the Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes Department said today.

A sum of Rs 11.75 crore has been earmarked for the current financial year for these schemes.

He said a sum of Rs 3.50 crore has been earmarked to set up computer labs in the colleges during the current financial year.

As many as 1000 computers would be provided to set up these labs.

He said a sum of Rs 2.70 crore had been earmarked to impart training to 9000 students during the year. Under the scheme to provide computers to the students, a sum of Rs 5.55 crore has been allocated in the current financial year.
