Six including three of a family drown

Bangalore, Nov 22 (UNI) Six people, including three of a family, drowned in two separate incidents in Devanahalli and Mysore in the last 24 hours.

Police today said nine-year-old Sunni drowned when she fell into a pond at Kogile near Devanahalli on the outskirts of the city and her mother Munni (33) drowned, while trying to rescue the child.

Her husband Rafiq (40) who went to save them got stuck in silt and died.

Hearing the commotion, Sharada (23), who was staying nearby, came to their rescue but she too met with watery grave.

A report from Mysore said two people drowned, when a car, in which they were travelling, plunged into a tank on the outskirts of the city today.

They were on their way back to Davanagere from Kerala.

However, the car driver swam to safety, police added.
