Railways to set joint venture with private sector

New Delhi, Nov 22 (UNI) The Ministry of Railways is exploring the feasibility of a joint venture with private sector in setting up of two manufacturing units in Bihar and one at Rae-Bareli in Uttar Pradesh, the Lok Sabha was informed today .

Minister of State for Railways R Velu, in a written reply said the ministry has identified sites in Bihar for a diesel loco factory and for an electric loco factory at Marowhra and Madhepura respectively. A coach factory will also be set up at Rae-Bareli in UP.

So far the ministry has not identified the private players for the participation in the joint venture, he added.
