Police seized huge explosive from a lecturer
Sambalpur, Nov 22 (UNI) Orissa police and the CRPF have arrested a suspected Maoist leader and seized huge explosive materials from him at Naktideul area, the police said today.
The Maoist leader, lecturer in Botany of Naktideul College Hemananda Pradhan (32), and assiciate Tarun Pradhan (30) were arrested yesterday and later forwarded to the Rairakhol court, the police added.
Both the accused are the residents of the same locality.
They were arrested under section 286/34 of IPC, 9B of Explosive Act, Sambalpur Superintendent of Police Sanjaya Kumar said.
As per information from the IIC of Naktideul P Kerketa, police and CRPF personnel found two youths riding on a motor cycle with some materials.
They stopped them near Pathuria village for verification and seized 223 detonators, 13.5 kg of explosive gel and 30 metres of safety fuse wire from their possession.
Some foreign currencies were also recovered from their possession, the police said adding that their involvement with the Maoists operating in the area was suspected.
