Mizoram nursing college might close down

Aizawl, Nov 22 (UNI) The Opposition in Mizoram have alleged that the College of Nursing might be closed down following state government's failure to construct a building.

The Indian Nursing Council has directed all nursing institutions in the country to have their own building within March 31, 2008, failing the colleges would not be allowed to take any students for the academic year 2008-09.

''With this directive, the nursing college is likely to be closed down from the next academic session,'' Congress spokesman R Vanlalvena said.

He also alleged that the state government had misappropriated Rs 150 lakh sanctioned by the Centre on April 25, 2005, following which the central authorities have refused to give the second installment for construction of the building.

Though an utilisation certificate was submitted to the Centre on July 26, 2007, the latter refused to release the second installment, he said.
