International seminar on Sufi poet Rumi

Chandigarh, Nov 22 (UNI) The Haryana Urdu Akademi, in collaboration with the Embassy of Iran and Persian Department of Delhi University, will organise a two-day international seminar on great Sufi poet and thinker Maulana Jalal-ul-Din Rumi on his 800th birth anniversary on November 23 and 24.

As many as ten Iranian scholars from Tehran would present their papers on the life, works and philosophy of Maulana Rumi. Besides, ten Indian scholars including Prof Chander Shekhar, Chairman of Persian Department of Delhi University would also present their papers.

Haryana Governor A R Kidwai would inaugurate the seminar tomorrow at Haryana Raj Bhawan. Education Minister Mange Ram Gupta will preside over the seminar. Mr Mohammad Shafie Shakib, Cultural Counsellor, Iran Cultural House and Mr Ali Reza Ghazve, Director, Iran Culture House, Embassy of Islamic Republic of Iran will be the Guests of Honour.

Mr Mohammad Shafie Shakib will deliver the keynote address.
