Forty persons injured in train accident

Khargpur, Nov 22 (UNI) At least forty Railway employees traveling by Bharatdarsan Special train were seriously injured when up TATA Passenger from Howrah rammed into it tonight near Shyamchawk station.

Two compartments were derailed due to the accident, Mr Ranjan Tewari, DRM, Khargpur said. The Bharatdarsan Special was standing between Shyamchak and Jakpur stations due to signal failures.

TATA passenger running on the same track from Howrah and hit it from the back at about 2030 hours. The injured employees were immediately sent to Kharagpur Railway Hospital, 15 kms away from the spot.

A relief train led by Divisional Safety officer, Debasis Chandra immediately rushed to the spot. All up and down train movement on the South Eastern Railway have been suspended following the accidents, sources said.
