Death sentence to 4 for gangrape-murder
Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh, Nov 22 (UNI) A sessions court has handed down capital punishment in a gangrape-murder case to four people, including the brother-in law of the victim.
Additional Sessions Judge Rajkumar Tiwari on Tuesday placed the case in the rarest-of-the-rare category and sent the convicts to gallows.
''Leniency towards such convicts will affect people's faith in the judicial system,'' the judge said.
According to the prosecution, Ranjeet Kewat (29), along with friends Amar Singh (21), Ramnaresh Kewat (22) and Dhyan Singh (31), reached his brother Indrajeet's residence at Gullidand village at 2100 hrs on August 9, 2006.
Indrajeet was out station when they came. His wife, two children and servant Rohan Yadav were at home. After a while, the visitors left but returned later in the night, overpowered the servant and then committed the gangrape-murder.
