Death sentence for murder of wife, daughter

Ludhiana, Nov 22 (UNI) The District and Sessions Court today awarded death sentence to a local resident on charges of murdering his wife and daughter.

The sentence was pronounced by District and Sessions Judge G K Rai here after the completion of arguments by the defense and prosecution counsels in the case.

The accused, Mohinder Singh, a resident of Partap Singhwala locality had murdered his wife and daughter last year when he was out on parole. The police after investigations had registered a case at the Habowal police station against Mohinder Singh.

Earlier in July 1999, he had raped his daughter for which he was convicted to 12-years imprisonment. He was lodged at the Ludhiana Central jail here and in January last year he committed the double murder while out on parole.
