Shimla, Nov 22 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today said the list of party candidates for 65 assembly segments will be declared tomorrow following a unanimity in a majority of the seats.
The list of the party candidates would be declared tomorrow and barring a few there was unanimity on the candidates, he told mediapersons here.
Replying to a question on party tickets to kith and kin of some senior Congress leaders, he said, ''I do not want to comment on this. The matter pertaining to all cases of kith and kin of party leaders has been left to the Congress president Sonia Gandhi''.
He said the party's associate in the Assembly were also being considered at par with other candidates for party tickets.
''The criteria is not to favor anybody and not to discriminate anybody in his claim for ticket. The winnability and past adherence to the party policies has to be considered,'' he said.
Asked about HPCC chief Viplove Thakur's opposition to giving Congress tickets to associate members on the contention that this would demoralize the party cadres, he said the cadres would be demoralized, if we put up weak candidates in the elections.
''We need to field strong candidates in the elections, even if they have to be taken from outside. One has to compromise in politics,'' he said.
On being asked about speculations in a section of the press about the party denying ticket to Horticulture Minister Singhi Ram he avoided a direct comment and said a few papers have wrongly said that he has been given the ticket.
''Even I have not got the ticket so far,'' he added.
