Chandigarh gears up for annual city carnival

Chandigarh, Nov 22 (UNI) Chandigarh is all set to rock with Chandigarh Carnival to be celebrated on November 24 and 25.

Preparations for the mega event are in full swing. Stalls, floats, tableaux are being prepared for the grand show. Bands, dance troops are also preparing for the big day.

The Chandigarh Carnival has become a prestigious national tourism event and in view of the tourism potential, Union Ministry of Tourism has also included it in the national calendar of fairs and festivals.

For the occasion, Carnival Village has been planned. There will be fun and frolic, folk songs and dances from NZCC, different Government Schools and Colleges, Art and Culture, Culture and Cuisine and entertainment for all age groups.

Canada is the partner country and Haryana Tourism is the partner state of the carnival this year. Costume, cuisine and culture of Canada will be depicted and shown is the Village through their stalls and different items presented by them.

Chandigarh Arts Council, Chandigarh Sangeet Natak Akademi, Chandigarh Museum, STEPS, Tourism will put up their exhibits depicting the streams of art. Information Technology, State Aids Control Society, DPI(S), State Legal Authority, British Library will also put up their stalls.
