Bodies of crewmen to be flown back home

Kochi, Nov 22 (UNI) The bodies of two crewmen of Shipping Corporation of-India Ltd's vessel 'M T Arun Kheterpal' who were killed in a freak accident at the Cochin Port yesterday, will be taken to their home towns by today and tomorrow.

The body of seaman Ganesh Kumar Chauhan (19) of Gujarat would be flown home this evening and that of Akhitesh Kumar Jha (25), a native of New Delhi, tomorrow, a Cochin Port Trust spokesperson said.

The bodies were handed over to SCI officials, who arrived here from Mumbai, after autopsy at the local hospital, he said.

The seamen died after the rope between the ship and the tug snapped and hit them hard while the vessel was being brought to the port for berthing.
