ADA directed to reply in illegal construction case

Allahabad, Nov 22 (UNI) Allahabad High Court today took a strong note of the illegal and unauthorised multi-storey buildings, which were being constructed in the city.

The bench, comprising Justices Amitav Lala and Shrish Kumar, directed the counsel appearing for the Commissioner, Chairperson and Secretary of the Allahabad Development Authority (ADA) to file a detailed reply as to how plot number seven on Beli Road was constructed by the Baba Shankri Avas Samiti Ltd and the same was not razed, nothwithstanding the orders passed by the ADA zonal officer.

The bench observed ''the illegal constructions are being raised in the city without following the prescribed ADA norms...even the senior ADA officials are hand-in-glove with the colonisers.'' The observation came while hearing a writ petition of Kiram Srivastava.

She had sought the court's direction to ADA to follow the April 5, 2004, order of the zonal officer, whereby it was ordered to bulldoze unauthorised constructions of the Baba Sakhari Avas Samiti Ltd.

The next hearing is on December 12.
