Agartala, Nov 21 (UNI) The Opposition tribal party in the state Indigenous National Party of Tripura (INPT) has filed a writ petition in Agartala bench of Guwahati High Court against the voting rights of the security personnel at their workplace.

Filing the writ, INPT general secretary Rabindra Debbarmma alleged that the ruling party might have taken advantage of the support of paramilitary forces posted in different locations of the state.

''We believe it is just like shifting the voters from one constituency to other. In previous elections, the Left Front had won the polls by a margin of less than 100 and if the paramilitary forces get voting rights at workplace, it would definitely help the ruling party,'' Mr Debbarmma argued.

Mr Debbarmma also alleged that the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) in the state had been favouring the Left Front.

Meanwhile, Leader of the Opposition Ratan Lal Nath yesterday met Chief Election Commissioner of India N Gopalswami and two other commissioners in Delhi and demanded to announce model code of conduct for the ninth Assembly elections to be held in February.

Mr Nath alleged that the ruling Left Front had been trying to convince the voters by inaugurating half-done projects and laying foundations for new projects as well as providing jobs and various other assurances on the eve of elections.
