US polygamy leader Jeffs sentenced to prison
ST GEORGE, Utah, Nov 21 (Reuters) US polygamist sect leader Warren Jeffs, who was considered a prophet by his church of breakaway Mormons, was sentenced to 10 years to life in prison for being an accomplice to rape by forcing a 14-year-old to marry her cousin.
A Utah court said Jeffs' sentence was subject to review by the state board of pardons, which will ultimately determine how much time he serves.
Jeffs, the self-proclaimed ''prophet'' of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints spent 15 months on the run and was on the FBI's Most Wanted list before his arrest in August 2006. He was convicted in September.
