Patiala, Nov 21 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh are in an impregnable position, having scored a respectable total of 424, losing six wickets, against Goa in Cooch Behar Trophy (Under-19) on the second day today at the Dhruv Pandove Cricket Stadium here.
Uttar Pradesh were 4 for 1 yesterday at draw of stumps and looked vulnerable.
However, Ankit Tiwari and southpaw Ankit Paul sent the Goa bowlers on a leather hunt, scoring brilliant centuries. Ankit Tiwari scored 159 with 13 glorious fours and smashed 2 mighty sixers.
Stylish left hand batsman Ankit Paul scored a breezy 124, embellished with 17 fours and a huge six. Akash Sharma (53) and Umang Sharma (43) were the other batsmen in the thick of runs.
The 3rd wicket partnership between Ankit Tiwari and Ankit Paul yielded 233 runs.
For Goa, Amit Yadav and Alok Sirodkar captured two wickets each, conceding 73 and 35 runs respectively.
