Ten espionage modules neutralised in UP during 2004-07:Centre

New Delhi, Nov 21 (UNI) A total of 10 ISI - backed espionage modules have been neutralised in Uttar Pradesh during the past four years resulting in the arrest of 13 espionage agents, including five Pakistani nationals, Parliament was informed today.

Minister of State for Home Sriprakash Jaiswal, in a written reply, told the Rajya Sabha that these arrests had been made in Agra, Meerut, Varanasi, Rampur, Lucknow and Saharanpur districts during the period 2004-2007.

The Central Government has been sensitising the State Governments about the activities of ISI, he said.

Periodic coordination meetings are also held with the State Governments for sharing inputs from various quarters as well as devising strategies, to counter such activities. Security and intelligence agencies belonging to the Union and States have been working together to check the activities of ISI, he informed.
