Tata Chemicals joins ICRISAT's SSERC

Hyderabad, Nov 21 (UNI) Tata Chemicals Limited (TCL) has joined hands with ICRISAT for joining the Sweet Sorghum Ethanol Research Consortium (SSERC).

A Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) to this effect was signed by ICRISAT Director General William Dar and TCL Managing Director Homi R Khusrokhan here on November 17, a statement said today.

According to Dr Dar, this partnership would go a long way in enhancing the commercialisation of sweet sorghum for bio-ethanol production.

Production of ethanol from sweet sorghum as a biofuel can provide additional income to dry land farmers without compromising on their food security.

Mr Khusrokhan said he was very happy on TCL joining the consortium and also very impressed with the wonderful developmental work done by ICRISAT all around the world.
