Extend advanced treatment to poor at nominal cost: Minister

Visakhapatnam, Nov 21 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Vaidya Vidhana Parishad and Hospital Services Minister V Venkateswara Rao today called upon the corporate hospitals coming up in the state to extend advanced medical services and treatment facilities to at least ten to 15 per cent of the poor at nominal costs.

Speaking after inaugurating the Bangalore-based Manipal Group's 'Women and Child Hospital' here, he said the Andhra Pradesh Government was extending every support for the development of education and medical sectors in the state.

All corporate hospitals should think of providing comprehensive and better health services to the poor people in remote rural areas, he added.

The Minister invited the Manipal Group to the state capital for setting up another hospital offering general healthcare services.

Arjuna Awardee and Chess Grand Master Koneru Hampi was the guest of honour at the inaugural function. Group Director Dr Nagendra Swamy also spoke on the occasion.
