Cartography essential for finding directions in sea

Visakhapatnam, Nov 21 (UNI) Union Minister of State for Mines T Subbirami Reddy today said cartography, a subject that deals with drawing maps, is essential for finding directions in sea, air and in locating vast mineral resources available across the country.

After inaugurating the three-day conference of the 27th International Congress of the Indian National Cartographic Association (INCA) here today, he said the business of map making should be opened for private participation.

The programme, with the theme 'Cartography for Coastal Management', was jointly organised by INCA and National Hydrographic Office, Dehradun.
