northern

eastern
states
congregated
at
river
banks
to
pray
to
the
rising
Sun
as
the
three-day
long
Chhat
Puja
concluded
on
November
17.
"Chhat" which means worship of Sun god, symbolising life force and prosperity is an annual Hindu festival celebrated mainly in eastern Bihar. Devotees offering prayers and performing holy rituals thronged banks of river Yamuna in New Delhi, Ganga in Patna and Varanasi.
