TDP, TRS MLCs suspended from AP Council

Members

opposition
Telugu
Desam
Party
(TDP)
and
the
Telangana
Rastra
Samithi
(TRS)
were
suspended
for
the
day
today
from
the
state
Legislative
Council
for
obstructing
the
proceedings
for
more
than
20
minutes,
demanding
that
the
government
allow
discussion
on
the
Minimum
Support
Price
(MSP)
for
paddy
at
Rs
1000
per
quintal.
The TDP and TRS members started shouting slogans in the House immediately after the House started its proceedings. When the Council Chairman A Chakrapani did not allow the opposition parties' request to initiate debate on the MSP, they rushed to the Chairman's podium and staged a sit-in.
Obstructing the question hour, the opposition MLCs started shouting slogans against the government and demanded Rs 1000 as MSP for Paddy.
The Chairman asked the Legislative Affairs Minister K Rosaiah to move a motion for suspension of the MLCs from the house to run the House smoothly.
After the Minister moved the motion, 12 TDP and two TRS members were suspended from the House.
In protest against the suspension of two of its MLCs, TRS floor leader Dilip Kumar staged a walkout from the house.
Later, the Communist Party of India(Marxists) staged a walkout in protest against the Reliance company entering into saloon and retail business, threatening the livelihoods of petty businessmen in the state.
