Rajya Sabha adjourned till 1200 hrs on Nadigram issue
New Delhi, Nov 20 (UNI) A determined opposition seeking an immediate discussion on the Nandigram issue stalled the proceedings during Question Hour in the Rajya Sabha for a second day today, forcing Chairman Hamid Ansari to adjourn the House till 1200 hrs.
As soon as the Upper House sat for the day, the BJP-led NDA members created a raucous din by shouting slogans and demanding that the Question Hour be suspended to initiate a discussion on the Nandigram violence.
Some of the BJP members also trooped into the well of the House, raising slogans: ''Sabse Pahle Nandigram, Baki Peche Sara Kaam'' (First Nandigram, rest of the business can come later).
CPM members tried to counter the NDA members by raising their own slogans. Members of the United National Progressive Alliance (UNPA) contributed to the high decibel level by making slogans, which were inaudible.
Sensing the combative mood of the opposition members, Mr Ansari barely took two minutes to suspend the Question Hour and adjourn the House till 1200 hrs.
