New Delhi, Nov 20 (UNI) President Pratibha Patil today issued a proclamation accepting the Cabinet's recommendation to bring Karnataka under President's rule and keep the Assembly under suspended animation, Rashtrapati Bhawan sources said.

The Cabinet which met at 0800 hrs today decided to accept the Karnataka Governor Rameshwar Thakur's recommendations on Karnataka before Prime Minister Manmohan Singh left for his Singapore visit.

Last night Cabinet Committee on Political Affairs too considered the report which wanted the Cabinet to take the decision.

The 224-member Karnataka Assembly was kept under suspended animation for one month until the suspension was lifted on November 9 after the BJP-JD (S) claimed to form the government. The Governor had sent his report to the Centre yesterday when the eight-day old B S Yeddiyurappa government failed to demonstrate its majority in the Assembly in the face of the JD (S) refusing to support the confidence vote.
