London Mayor Livingstone arrives on two-day Mumbai visit

Mumbai, Nov 21 (UNI) A busy schedule awaits the Mayor of London, Ken Kivingstone, who is on a two-day visit to the metropolis.

The Mayor will partipate in a number of functions and will also ride the Mumbai's lifeline, the suburban train. He arrived in the city tonight from New Delhi. Tomorrow, he will address a seminar on 'Partner in Globalisation', being hosted by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) at the Hyatt Hotel.

Apart from Mr Livingstone, the seminar will be addressed by Michael Charlton, CEO of Think London, Jitesh Gadhia, MD of ABN Amro, Christopher Rees, partner and co-head of the TMT Group.

The same day, the London Mayor will witness the film signing agreement between Film London and the Hindi film industry, which will also be attended by Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan, Ronnie Screwala, president of Film and Television Guild of India, Adrian Wootton, Chief Executive of Film London, and Sandy Lieberson, Chair of Film London.

In addition, he will address London Student and Alumni Master Class alongwith Lord Meghnad Desai and others at HR College here on the theme, 'Improve access to global business due to London's financial hub status'. On the second day of his visit, Mr Livingston will speak on 'Building Global Cities - Suatainable development', which has been organised by the Mumbai Metropolitan Regulatorty Development Authority (MMRDA) in association with Mumbai First.

The seminar aims at an idea of exchange between Mumbai and London on constructing sustainable and economically successful global cities -- sharing best practice and lessons learnt.

At the seminar, the London Mayor will share dias with Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh, Governor S M Krishna, London Transport Commissioner Peter Hendy and Mark Watts, Environmental Advisor to the Mayor.

He will also visit the underconstruction Bandra-Worli Sea Link project. In the evening, he will grace a function being held to felicitate Big B for his role in promoting London globally. UK classical star Myleene Klass and Sonu Nigam will perform along with Terence Lewis troupe at the function.
